adresse The Vieux Raisin mansion

Hôtel de Bérenguier Maynier
36 rue du Languedoc - 31000 TOULOUSE

Built in 1516 for Béringuier Maynier, Capitoul, lawyer and professor of law, and lover of Italian art, the Hôtel du Vieux Raisin is one of the finest mansions in Toulouse. Its name comes from that of a neighbouring street to the south, in which was situated a tavern displaying a sign featuring a bunch of grapes. The wealth of its stone decor bears witness to the art of the Renaissance and a pronounced love of antiquity, and includes a spiral staircase, Renaissance tower, and caryatids and medallions with busts at the windows and bay windows overlooking the courtyard.
Entry
